Giuliano Carmignola, was born in Treviso, Italy. His first violin teacher was his father. He then went on to the Venice Conservatory. Among his teachers there and elsewhere were Nathan Milstein, and Henryk Szeryng. In 1973, he won an award at the International Paganini Competition in Genoa. His career as a soloist began with conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Giuseppe Sinopoli and collaborations with Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Christopher Hogwood and Trevor Pinnock, to name a few. As a soloist with a focus on Baroque music, Mr. Carmignola has collaborated with the Virtuosi of Rome and later with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, the Mozart Orchestra, Il Giardino Armonico, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Academy of Ancient Music. He has an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon. Rarely appearing outside of Europe, his most recent performance in the US was at Lincoln Center, Feb. 6th & 7th, 2019.
