Enrique Granados
Observations
Here (above) is his sketchbook interpretation of one of Goya’s most famous themes, a ‘maja’ (18th cent. Spanish term which came to mean “pretty young women, sometimes of the lower classes, who dress gaily”).
Like many other composers, Enrique Granados used sketchbooks to record his musical ideas. His most famous composition is entitled “Goyescas”, a collection of 12 pieces based on the work of the Spanish painter, Goya.
