Quint: Massine, Meditation from “Thais”

The young Russian American violinist, Philippe Quint, made his solo debut at age 9 while studying at Moscow’s Special Music school for the Gifted.  After emigrating to the US, he enrolled at The Juilliard School and graduated with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.  He went on to win top prizes in music competitions around the world and his recording of Korngold’s Violin concerto ranked in the top 20 on Billboard’s Classical Chart in its first week of sales.  He plays the “Ruby” Strad (1708) loaned to him by The Stradivarius Society.  The manuscript he offers for this collection reflects the cumulative result of a number of coaching sessions over time by famed violin teacher, Dorothy Delay, and Itzhak Perlman.  All three have marked the music.  The cartoon balloon is compliments of Maestro Perlman.
